There are two types of CrossFits out there in the world. One is the lifestyle version where, health, wellness and attention to technique are paramount, basically safety is of the utmost concern. That is the program that we do. The other CrossFit is the sport, where athletes are competing to try and finish workouts as fast as they can in order to win prizes or gain ranking. This used to be very popular version even at the gym level, however this particular type of CrossFit caused a lot of injuries and is no longer represented in most gyms, especially ours. Although we at times promote a fun event here and there, like the CrossFit Open and our in-house event “Hostile Takeover,” we don’t push or encourage people to wreck themselves and put themselves at risk of injury in order to win a competition.
