Jake is an athletic trainer with a unique background in Martial Arts and exercise Kinesiology. He has nearly 20 years of Martial Arts training in various disciplines: Kung Fu, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Aikido, Hapkido, Philipino Arnis and is a Master in Taekwondo.
In 1999, Jake began studying Kinesiology to improve his understanding of human movement. This led him to the 2004 Olympics as the athletic trainer for Steven Lopez, a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist in the sport of Taekwondo. In 2002, Steven and Jake combined sport Taekwondo and fitness to bring about the nationally acclaimed fitness program, Fit 360, which was featured in Fitness magazine in September 2003.
In 2004, Jake opened Platt Sports to perform one-on-one personal training, focusing on sports-specific training and post-surgery and injury rehabilitation. As his business grew, he brought the concept of CrossFit to the business. After training in the CrossFit method, Jake experienced such a dramatic change in his fitness level, that in September 2007 he became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer. In March 2007 his business became an official CrossFit affiliate, and attracts dozens of elite and amateur athletes ranging in ages 9 to 70 years old.

Tyler Searle has been a personal trainer since earning his NASM Certification in 2004 and began Crossfit training in early 2007. Beyond Crossfit training, Tyler is the Northwest’s top Taekwondo Competitor in his weight class with a near undefeated record that spans over 10 years of Black belt competition. Coached by Jake Platt since the age of 7, Tyler has competed all over the USA as well as Canada, Peru and Korea. In addition, Tyler is an Eagle Scout, Dean’s list Senior at University of WA and Head trainer to the kids Taekwondo Program here at Northwest Crossfit.
DARREN DARSEY
CrossFit Level 1 Certified Trainer
Darren has been involved in competitive athletics through out his life but was ultimately most influenced by his time as a collegiate spring board diver, ranking All American on both the 1meter and 3meter spring boards. Darren has been involved with CrossFit since 2003 and is currently the gym manager and one of a team of coaches at Northwest CrossFit Bellevue that have been fortunate to meld passion and work. In addition to coaching Darren acts as photographer, designer and "web site guy" for Northwest CrossFit.

Laurie's background includes competitive swimming, triathlons and marathons. She has been a personal trainer since 2006 and a NW CrossFit coach since November 2008. Since finding CrossFit over 2 years ago, it has now become her main sport. She has a passion for health and fitness and loves seeing clients get fit, strong, confident and healthy through CrossFit.

Jeff has extensive experience in athletics, including basketball at the college level, which is the basis of his training approach. He believes the foundation of a successful fitness program is a combination of variety, enjoyment, and competition. After running his first marathon in 2007, he was hooked and has since spent a great deal of time and energy finding the best way to train for peak endurance performance . Jeff is the head trainer of Greenlake Endurance, which gives him the opportunity to carry out his passion of helping people from all walks of life achieve their endurance athletic goals.
Jeff's involvement in endurance races also led him to co-founding ERace Poverty, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to be a part of eradicating extreme poverty worldwide by assisting individuals in training for endurance races, and using those races as a platform for raising financial support for high quality poverty reduction organizations, both domestic and international. Through this experience, Jeff was able to spend nearly a year volunteering with such organizations on three different continents, including in Kenya, where he organized an annual 10km foot race in the community he lived in. Megan has been involved in athletics from a very young age. She has always had a passion for health and fitness and now as a mother of two active boys, she appreciates the importance of staying in shape in order to keep up with everyday life.
KELSEY RASMUSSEN
Crossfit Level 1 Certified Trainer
Kelsey has had a lifelong interest in sports and fitness with a background in a variety of sports including water polo, fastpitch, basketball and soccer. She won honors in high school including, Gatorade Player of the Year and being named All-American. Kelsey traveled throughout the United States and Europe playing on the Youth Regional and National Soccer Team. A scholarship player at the University of Washington, she graduated with a B.A. in Economics while playing four years of Division I soccer for UW. She was team captain and Player of the Year. Kelsey currently holds the record for most goalkeeper shutouts in a season. While in college she gained experience training others at soccer camps and in private goalkeeper lessons. Her Crossfit journey began in January 2008 and her passion and dedication to CrossFit training has taken her physically and mentally to levels she never thought possible as an athlete. As a qualified coach she is there with you not just for motivation but to guide and coach you through each and every exercise throughout your training session and to help you reach an all new fitness level for yourself.
NATASHA COTTINGHAM
Natasha Cottingham LMP, Certified Soma Practioner.
Natasha has been practicing massage and SOMA for ten years. She values bodywork as a way of connecting and integrating aspects of self. Along with a decade of experience, she brings a safe receptivity to her table work. She has also studied energy work, including Reiki and EMF Balancing. She partners with her clients to bring what they need to each session. She works both with injuries, as well as preventively for overall health and wellness. Natasha is available by appointment only.
