Bio
Lindsey comes from an athletic dynasty. Her grandfather, Jim Sweeney, is a Hall of Fame football coach, her uncle, Kevin Sweeney, was a Heisman nominee, broke Doug Flutie’s career collegiate passing record, and was a quarterback for the Dallas Cowboy’s, and San Francisco 49ers. Lindsey’s Father, Chet also played college football at Fresno State and went on to coach for future father-in-law, Jim Sweeney. Her cousins, Beau Sweeney (quarterback) and Kyle Negrete (Linebacker/Punter) will be attending the University of California and University of San Diego respectively on full-ride athletic scholarship in the Fall of 2008. Her other cousin Nate Fellner (Defensive Back) recently accepted a full athletic scholarship to play football for the Huskies in the Fall of 2009.

Personally, Lindsey attended the University of Oregon on a full-ride basketball scholarship. While there, she was named the university’s female athlete of the year, was a 3-year Pac-10 All-Conference team member, and a 3-year team captain. Her Duck team won back-to-back Pac-10 conference championships, and had four straight appearances in the NCAA tournament, including a trip to the Sweet Sixteen. Since college she has worked as an assistant women’s basketball coach and strength and conditioning coach for the University of Oregon, Seattle Pacific University, and Sacramento State University. Lindsey enjoys crossfit training and has completed two full marathons, two half marathons, is competing in her first triathlon this fall, and has summited Mt. Shasta, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, Mt. Olympus, The Middle Sister, Mt. Machlaughlin, and Mt. Hood.

Check out our August newsletter for updates on new things going on with Northwest Crossfit. If you need a copy of the Newsletter just send us an email at info@nwcrossfit.com.

In Greenlake: Wow!, We had 28 in our Saturday morning class at 9am! We handled it great, thanks to our advanced group for helping out, but we are going to have to add more classes…On Saturday morning we are adding a class at 10am, so some of you can sleep in :)

We are also going to extend our Elements program to 5 days a week since that class is getting really popular (M-F at 8am).

JUST A FEELER…The evening classes are getting close to full and we are thinking of extending the hours and offer an evening class at 7:30, let us know if you would attend and what nights and we’ll see about getting it on the schedule. Right now we are first come first serve and if need be we will just have groups start after the ones before finish, since the workouts are short enough (usually under 20 minutes) to wait.

Look for having the ability to reserve your time. This will be a new feature that will be great for those of you that want a guaranteed spot in class.

We are also looking at properties as a possibility to open up another location nearby, so if anyone sees a cool empty building somewhere let us know.

In Bellevue: We added a Monday morning class at 6am and now we have 9am Mon through Sat. Check out our schedule for the entire schedule.

Our in-house Ninja Warrior “AJ” having fun! 0

Running the right way 0

These are the before and after clips of our short running clinic after Saturdays workout. Everyone showed improvement towards landing below their body and on the ball of their foot.

Congratulations AJ (aka Jake Terry) for getting his Crossfit Certification this weekend! 0

We had a great success with the running clinic on Saturday with Scott. Will post a before and after video later of some of the runners. Scott will also be leaving for 6 weeks to do his Officer training in the Marine Corp. He’ll be back the 2nd week of August. AJ will be helping out with classes while Scott is gone.

TENNIS CONDITIONING! 0

All things being equal, the stronger athlete will win more, be more productive and less prone to injury.

Many Northwest tennis players have benefited greatly by our program design. We have three modes of training that we focus on. Strength, Metabolic Conditioning and Tennis specific.

Strength: For many players Strength is the limiting factor in increasing performance, since speed, agility and power are dependent on strength.

We use Crossfit for our Metabolic conditioning: The exercises we choose increase workload capacity, so that players are capable of competing at a higher level of intensity for longer periods of time.

Tennis specific: We use multi-plane change of direction movement patterns that exceed any demands that a player may face on the court.
